Opportunity
A new mission for Save The Elephants
Save The Elephants (STE) had evolved. With the ivory crisis in decline, a new challenge loomed—Africa’s coexistence crisis between humans and elephants. STE had a toolkit, hundreds of partners, and innovative research, technologies, and solutions to mitigate the conflict. However, a new vision was needed to give the organization focus and greater donations.
Obstacle
Defining Save The Elephants
STE founder Iain Douglas-Hamilton pioneered elephant behavior science. However, after nearly six decades of research, advocacy, conservation, and policy influence, it was a formidable challenge to categorize the organization and convey it to donors.
Solution
Accelerating coexistence solutions
STE was uniquely positioned to advance coexistence solutions using science. With a network of 160+ organizations supported by STE researchers, technology, and funds, STE demonstrated its capability to scale local coexistence solutions continent-wide.
Results
A new voice for elephants
STE’s narrative would champion the world’s first conversation for biodiversity inclusiveness in Africa’s rapid development.
